The grippy, 4.3 mm rubber sole on the Momentum is proprietarily molded for optimal consistency and the midsole offers good sensitivity on medium to large footholds—an impressive quality on a beginning shoe. The rubber also extends into the toe box, on each side and around most of the heel for enhanced traction and protection. Velcro closures on the breathable upper, made from engineered knit, adjust evenly across your feet so you don’t end up with tingling toes. A partial liner inside the front adds to the overall comfort of these neutral shoes. The Momentum is designed specifically to fit the female foot and is sized the same as Black Diamond’s street and approach shoes—no need to order up or down. The women’s style is quite narrow, however, so if you have wide feet you may want to consider the Men’s Momentum which is built with a broader last.
